El Hadi Hassan El Kanzi is recorded as a Sudanese student enrolled on the 1966-67 postgraduate ‘General Design’ course run by the Architectural Association’s (AA) Department of Development and Tropical Studies, in London. He graduated in July 1967 with a postgraduate Diploma in Tropical Studies but details of his earlier education are not yet known to us. By 1969 he had returned to Sudan and was working in the Civil Engineering Department of Sudan Railways, based in Atbara. Nine years later he is noted as being the Assistant Structures and Bridge Engineer within the same service.
