Rohinton Nariman grew up in Jamshedpur, India, before moving to the UK in the 1950s where he trained at the Leeds College of Art, School of Architecture & Town Planning, graduating in 1958. He later attended the Architectural Association as a recipient of the Homi Bhabha Fellowship, studying in the Department of Development and Tropical Studies from 1967–68, taking the Housing Course. Immediately after graduating, Nariman returned to Jamshedpur where he served as Chief Architect & Town Planner for the Tata Iron & Steel Company (TISCO). Among Nariman’s notable works is the Meherbai Tata Memorial Hospital (MTMH) in Jamshedpur, completed in 1975. His professional focus appears to have been in the corporate and institutional sector, delivering planning and building projects for the company town of Jamshedpur under Tata’s industrial and philanthropic framework. Publicly available records contain no further information on his later career while the Homi Bhabha Fellowship Council Directory confirms that he has since passed away.
