Thao Boulom is recorded as a postgraduate student from Laos, studying in the inaugural year of the Architectural Association’s (AA) Department of Tropical Architecture, 1954-1955. Within the AA departmental records, Boulom is noted as having previously been the Chief of the Building Department, at the Ministry of Public Works, Laos. As Laos gained had independence in 1953, it is possible that Boulom’s sojourn, training at the AA, was intended to prepare him for a role in the construction of the newly formed nation. Details of his subsequent career are not yet known to us.
