Boonsong Rohitasuke was born in Pathum Tani, Thailand, in 1926 and was educated at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, where he gained a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, graduating with honours in 1949. He was subsequently won scholarships to study in the UK, the Netherlands, and Cornell University. In 1957 he is recorded as enrolling in the Architectural Association’s Department of Tropical Architecture (DTA) post-graduate course. On his return to Thailand, following graduation, he became a Professor at the School of Architecture, Chulalongkorn University, a post he was to hold for 28 years. He was also active as an architect, in Bangkok, and designed a number of buildings for Chulalongkorn University campus. In 1977 Boonsong moved to the US, settling in the Seattle area and continuing to practice as an architect, working latterly on the Seattle Four Seasons Hotel.
