Samir Barah Mukherjee was born in the Howrah, West Bengal, in 1934 and is recorded in 1958-59 as a post-graduate student enrolled in the Architectural Association’s six-month Department of Tropical Architecture course. Following his graduation he travelled to the US, from Paris, in July 1960, giving a San Francisco address as his destination. By 1969 he was resident in Philadelphia, purchasing a house in Waverly Street, and appears to have practiced there as an architect until the early 1990s
