Danilo Penaflorida was first registered as a qualified architect in the Philippines in 1949 but nothing is yet known to us of his education and early career. In 1958 he is recorded as having travelled to the UK and enrolled as a student on the postgraduate course at the Architectural Association’s Department of Tropical Architecture, in London. Following his graduation with a Certificate in Tropical Architecture, in February 1959, Penaflorida appears to have returned to the Philippines and by 1961 he is noted as in the employ of the Division of Architecture, within the Bureau of Public Works in Manila.
