AA student Renate Lurdesa Baumane has received the Peter Luscombe drawing prize for their second-year project, Parallel Presents, which was developed in Intermediate 7.
Renate’s work was exhibited at the WCCA's Election Court Dinner along with other entries. The Worshipful Company of Chartered Architects offers drawing prizes to students from the London schools of Architecture each year with the aim of encouraging excellence in architectural drawing. Both RIBA Part 1 and Part 2 students were invited to submit drawings on behalf of their school.
Renate's work this year has explored the theme of memory and its connection to the landscape on the Isle of Mull. Any speculations, memories, or other associations linked to this island are manifested in a parallel present, transforming the location into an ever-evolving repository of narratives. The various perceptions of this landscape are continuously reintegrated back into it and analysed to create new mythologies, stories and histories.
