Hamed Khosravi, tutor of Fluid Territories: The North Sea (Diploma 7) and Projective Cities, is one of the authors of the new Sir Banister Fletcher’s Global History of Architecture. The 21st edition is edited by Murray Fraser and is published in two volumes book by Bloomsbury in collaboration with RIBA. AA Alumni Paul Walker and Peter Blundell Jones also contributed chapters on Western Europe and the Pacific.
The significance of the project lies in the efforts made to decentre the narrative of architectural history and to highlight the contribution of non-European architectures responsible for most of the world’s buildings. It also committed early on to an interdisciplinary approach. Khosravi’s chapter reviews the Iranian architecture in the period 1501-1794, through the lens of specific archetypes that emerged as result of political projects.
