Susel Biondi and René Poggione, founders of Poggione+Biondi, have been invited to the AA to speak on Architecture, Landscape and Sustainability by the AA’s Sustainable Environmental Design (SED) Taught Postgraduate Programme. AA SED Founder and Honourary Member Simos Yannas, also one of the Founders of Passive and Low Energy Architecture (PLEA), alongside AA SED Tutor Joana Goncalves who is PLEA Vice-President, have organised the event and will be involved in the lecture and workshop.
Biondi and Poggione will present some of their most acclaimed buildings including the Campo Oeste House in Cieneguilla and the Verdea apartments and hotel in Miraflores. The lecture will conclude with the presentation of Construye para Crescer (‘Build to grow’) a self-build social housing scheme in Lima conceived in defence of the Amazon and driven by the will to formulate architectural and environmental responses to the socio-economic tensions created by fast-growing deforestation.
The lecture will take place for AA SED students on Thursday 26 June, 5.30–6.30pm BST at the SED Studio, 1 Montague Street, WC1B 5BP.
A second event, entitled Conversation about Environmental Design, which is open to the public, is taking place on the same day from 12–1pm BST at 1 Montague Street (Ground Floor Back). At this event, the PLEA Board will meet with an invited group of AA students to discuss their design processes towards environmental architecture.
