The V&A Museum’s major exhibition, Tropical Modernism: Architecture and Independence, was reviewed by the Architects’ Journal this week. Nile Bridgeman writes that the exhibition has ‘expressive sculpture, carefully curated archival imagery and a particular knack for narration, leaving you wanting to discover more.’
The exhibition is a continuation of the works displayed in the Tropical Modernism exhibition at the 2023 Venice Architecture Biennale, which started out from the research of AA Tutors Nana Biamah-Ofusu and Bushra Mohamed. This exhibition, which runs until Sunday 22 September, displays AA Archive material from the Department of Tropical Architecture. Drawings, pamphlets, books and photographs have been borrowed from the AA, including a rare book from the AA Library; a 1964 edition of Tropical architecture in the dry and humid zones by Maxwell Fry and Jane Drew.
