Wraxall Yard, a project by Clementine Blakemore Architects, has received a High Commendation in the 2023 MacEwen Awards. Clementine studied in the Intermediate Programme at the AA between 2010–12 and was the head of an AA Visiting School between 2012–17; she founded the practice in 2016.
Wraxall Yard is a sensitively restored dairy farm in Dorset providing inclusive holiday accommodation, a community space, a workshop and an educational smallholding. The brief called for an ambitious renovation of the derelict site that would provide exemplary standards of accessibility and sustainability, without compromising the unique historic and agricultural character of the existing buildings. The project was driven by the belief that everyone should have the opportunity to engage with farming and wildlife.
