Alfred Victor France attended the Architectural Association in London from 1955 to 1956. He enrolled in the Department of Tropical Architecture after relocating from his native country, Guyana, where he had been serving as Chief Draughtsman for the Public Works Department in Georgetown. Following his studies at the AA, he returned to Georgetown and continued his career as a government architect for British Guyana's Public Works Department in 1961. In post-colonial Guyana, he remained in civil service, working within the Building Division of the Ministry of Works and Hydraulics by 1969.
