Fedorico Barrera is recorded as a Philippine post-graduate student enrolled in the inaugural year of the Architectural Association ‘s Department of Tropical Architecture in 1954. Prior to the AA, Barrera had attended the University of Santo Tomas, in Manila, where he gained both qualification in Architectural Design and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and Town Planning, subsequently working as an Architectural Draughtsman for the Public Works Department in Manila. After graduating from the AA’s Department of Tropical Architecture, Barrera appears to have returned to the Philippines and Government service by 1961, when he is listed as the Director of the Association of Philippine Government Architects (APGA)
