Abelardo M. Alcarez is recorded as a Filipino student enrolled at the postgraduate Department of Tropical Studies at the Architectural Association (AA) in 1964-1965. Alcarez was registered on the Department’s ‘General Course’, which he successfully completed in 1965 and was awarded the AA Diploma in Tropical Studies. Details of his earlier education and subsequent career are not yet known to us, other than that he registered as an architect in the Philippines in June 1958 and that by 1977 he was a member of the United Architects of the Philippines’ MAGS Chapter (Manila Architects in Government Service Chapter), indicating he was employed as an architect within the state structure.
