Hassan Mosbah Dajani is recorded as a Jordanian student enrolled on the 1966-67 postgraduate ‘General Design’ course run by the Architectural Association’s (AA) Department of Development and Tropical Studies, in London. Prior to coming to the AA, Dajani had studied architecture in Cairo and from 1963 had worked for the Jeddah Town Planning Office, Saudi Arabia, where he met and became friends with Dr Mohamed S. Farsi, the future Mayor of Jeddah (1972-86). Dajani graduated with an AA postgraduate Diploma in July 1967 and appears to have immediately returned to the Jeddah Town Planning Office. He was to subsequently work as a Liaison Officer for the planning of the Western Region of Saudi Arabia and its primary five cities. In 1980 he moved into the private sector, becoming a partner with the UK consultants, Robert Matthew Johnson Marshall and Partners (RMJM), where he played a key role in planning the conservation of the ancient sector of Jeddah and the planning of the pilgrimage region outside Mecca, in addition to the 30 mile stretch of coast forming the Jeddah corniche. During this period, Dajani also attended the University of Durham, where his MPhil thesis, with the Department of Geography, was an analysis of the collection and disposal of urban refuse within the Jeddah municipal area (1989). After retiring from RMJM, Hassan was involved in the founding of a school in Jeddah for children with special needs and served as a Board Member for the Continental School in Jeddah. He has also been a Trustee of the Anglo Jordanian Society and is currently a Trustee of the Mohamed S. Farsi Foundation.
