Peter Onwumere Ngbaronye studied at the Zaria branch of the Nigerian College of Arts, Science and Technology (now Ahmadu Bello University), and was one of the first six graduates of the new Architecture School there, in 1961. He then joined the Building Division of the Ministry of Works, Enugu, before being dispatched to the UK to undertake the postgraduate programme run by the Architectural Association’s Department of Tropical Studies. Along with his fellow 1961 graduate of the Nigerian College of Arts, Isaac Felo Alade, Ngbaronye took the option of attending the Department’s Educational Building’ course. Peter subsequently returned to the Ministry of Works and Housing, in Enugu and by 1975 had been promoted to Chief Architect, in which capacity his is recorded as taking part in the 'Premier Symposium InterAfricain (CSTR/OUA) Sur les Materiaux De Construction, Le Dessin Et La Construction’, held by the Organization of African Unity, in Cairo, in July 1975.
