Jacob Kam Yin Wong was born in Hong Kong in 1934. In 1953, he moved to Canada to pursue studies in architecture at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, where he graduated in 1959. Following his graduation, he began his professional career with McKinnan and Bouey Architects in Edmonton, Alberta. In 1961, Wong came to the United Kingdom and enrolled on the postgraduate programme run by the Architectural Association’s Department of Studies, in London.
