After gaining a bachelor’s architecture degree from Baghdad University in 1970, Suhair Al-Mosully appears to have enrolled at the Architectural Association for a one year post-graduate course in ‘Arts and History’, also electing to study partially at the Department of Development and Tropical Studies. Her name is listed within a Departmental tutorial group run by Mario Novelli but the AA student register is unclear as to her exact participation in the course. A highly respected practitioner in the field of international urban and social development, she worked in Iraq, between 2005-2008, as Regional Team Leader for the non-profit research institute, RTI, and the U.S. Agency for International Development. Prior to that, in 2000 she acted as a consultant for UNESCO in the West Bank, for the Hebron and Jericho Urban Revitalization and Rehabilitation Proposal. Other free-lance consultant work has been on projects including the Scientific Center of Kuwait, Salmiya (for Cambridge Seven Associates, c2000), the Fahaheel Waterfront development, Al Kout, (for Cambridge Seven Associates, c2000), and the Ahmediye Preservation Study, Amanat Baghdad, for the Architects’ Collaborative.
