Joachim Maier is recorded as studying Architecture at King’s College, Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK, (now Newcastle University), graduating in the early 1950s. According to documents in the Architectural Association Archives, Maier had gained experience with a practice in Newcastle before attending the AA’s Department of Tropical Architecture course from 1955 to 1956. Little is known to us regarding his subsequent career. He he appears he have returned to Newcastle after graduation but by the mid-1960s was once more living in London. He passed away in 2022.
