J.S. Fernandez is recorded as a Philippine student who joined the 6-month post-graduate course at the Architectural Association’s Department of Tropical Architecture in September 1956, having previously qualified as an architect at the Mapua Institute of Technology, in Manila, in 1950. He is recorded in the AA Council Minutes, as having an M.S. in Engineering Management and, prior to the AA, had worked as a Clerk of Works for the US Army. Little is known regarding his subsequent career but by 1961, his AA membership address is given as the Foz do Douro region of Porto, in Portugal.
