Dudley (‘Tig’) Duck attended the Architectural Association, London from 1950-55, graduating with Diploma Honours. As part of his final year’s studies, Duck joined the first cohort of the newly formed AA Department of Tropical Architecture (DTA). Immediately following graduation, Duck and three other DTA students (Kenneth Frampton, Michael Hirst and Graham Herbert) who were interviewed by Ivor Cummings, a senior officer in the Colonial Office, and offered jobs in Ghana, working for the Tema New Town Corporation. Duck returned to the UK in April 1957, where he is recorded as subsequently working for the practice of Lyons Israel Ellis. He is also known to have collaborated with Allan Thomas Park on an entry for the 1958 International Competition for Toronto’s City Hall and Square. In 1968, Duck changed his family name, by deed poll, to ‘Bennett’ and is recorded as living in Portadown, County Armagh, Northern Ireland.
