Chow-Piu Tang was born in Malaysia in 1934 and attended St Michael's Institution, Ipoh, from 1951-1955. He then studied Architecture at the Technical College, Kuala Lampur, under Julius Posener, from 1956-1959. Subsequently Posener was to write a letter of recommendation to the Architectural Association, in London, for Tang’s acceptance on its Diploma Course. Tang entered the AA Third Year cohort in September 1959 but the following year took some time away from studies, returning in 1962 to continue in the AA Fourth Year class. For his final Diploma year (1963-64), Tang elected to study at the AA’s Department of Tropical Studies, where his final thesis project was for a School of Architecture for Kuala Lumpur. Details of Tang’s subsequent are not yet known to us beyond the fact that he is recorded in 1985 as registered as an architect and living in Perth, Australia.
